Hi from Amble, Northumberland

Postby editor@theambler.co.uk » Thu Apr 06, 2017 3:17 pm

Hello All
I run The Ambler, a bi-monthly community newspaper and a hyperlocal site, based in Amble on the north Northumberland coast. Amble has around 6,500 residents, its past centred around coal and fishing, but since the demise of those industries, the town is re-establishing itself as a tourism and seafood destination. And home to a Puffin Festival. *looks for puffin emoji*

The Ambler is a community project of Amble Development Trust, and we have been running for the last 17 years. I run the paper (including writing, photography, layout and even delivering when necessary), help the volunteers, look for funding and sort the tea and biscuits. And run other creative digital media projects. Not necessarily in that order.

I don't describe myself as a journalist, though our local paper gives me a byline every now and then. My background is in digital media and I once met Erno Rubik. He will not remember.

Earl Grey and Kitkats for me please. :)
